Beware of Fake Versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0

Popular security software, Malwarebytes, recently launched its version 2.0 . Cybercriminals are taking advantage of this by tricking users into installing the fake version. According to Malwarebytes blog post written by Jovi Umawing, experts have come across several websites offering a free versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0, which contains a series of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). Researchers have analyzed the free version and determined that each time an operating system is booted, these bogus applications start and are capable of accessing private information that browsers store whenever a user goes online, such as data pertaining to cookies, browsing history, and list of restricted sites.
Malwarebytes also came across torrent download sites claiming to be hosting premium version of the version 2.0 but before accessing it for download, the user has to complete surveys.

We strongly advise our readers to download Malwarebytes from its official websites.
