University of Georgia Suspected Hacker Commits Suicide
In October we published about a hacker who accessed the University of Georgia information.The hacker was identified as a former student of the university and was under investigation.The authorities stated last month that the hacker committed suicide.Charles Staples Stell,who was 26 was found dead at his home on the 7 of November.
UGA police Lt. Eric Dellinger said "At this point, we felt the public needed to know for them to have some closure" Mr Dellinger also said that there is no evidence that these information were used to commit other crimes.This intrusion was reported to the police on the 5th of October by the university central IT organization, Enterprise Information Technology Services.The employee information files were found in possession of Charles during the forensic investigation.Stell was student at the university between 2005 and 2007 and was serving the National Guard for 6 years and was also the owner of Stapler Services in Athens.At the time of his death,he was not charged with any crimes and the police don't know if the suicide is related to the investigation.
